CRITICAL INCIDENT STRESS MANAGEMENT

Critical Incident Stress can be defined as "any situation faced by a person that causes them to experience unusually strong emotional reactions which have the potential to interfere with their ability to function either during the event or after." Critical incidents usually fall outside of a persons normal routine, pose a risk or danger to the person, or include other factors which are likely to increase their stressful nature.

Joanne routinely attends to critical incidents in her profession as a paramedic, and is currently on the Ottawa Paramedic Services' Critical Incident Stress Management Team. Her training and experiences have prepared her to readily identify with those that have encountered a critical incident or have been affected by a critical incident.

Joanne can help individuals as well as groups cope with critical incident stress.

When you experience a serious event don’t wait, call immediately.
